Welcome to the website of Southampton Ki Society
We teach the Ki principles of Master Koichi Tohei and Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, a Japanese Martial Art based on those Ki principles.
Ki Aikido is the application of Ki principles to martial art training. Ki Aikido is therefore a way of training mind and body, not simply a means of self-defence. It is practised in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is non-competitive.
Students are taught the spiritual aspects of Aikido, such as mind/body unification for daily life, meditation, breathing exercises, relaxation exercises and healing. This is called Ki training.
Because Ki Aikido relies on inner power and Ki principles, and not on physical strength, it is suitable for men and women of all ages and for children.
“To unify mind and body and become one with the Universe is the ultimate purpose of our study”
Koichi Tohei, Founder
Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido
